Project Highlights

Strut Assembly Cart

This is an example of one of twelve carts that were made for a customer assembling automotive sub-frames.These carts were made specifically for transporting strut assemblies to another location in the plant. The strut had to be open and accessible so that an automated tool could load the assemblies and allow a second automated tool to unload them later.

Some other noteworthy features were the nylon inserts that held the part to avoid scratches during transport. The cart was designed in such a way that it could be easily adjusted to match the shape of the next generation model or it could be repurposed later on to suit a whole new part altogether.

Driveshaft Gravity Cart

This cart was created for one of our automotive customers to transport driveshafts through their plant. The trays of driveshafts got loaded automatically by a gravity powered system when the AGV stopped at the loading zone. The driveshafts were also unloaded automatically when the AGV arrived at the unload destination, by interacting with a mechanism to release the trays when it was in the right position. This fully mechanical method saved the expense of adding powered features to the cart.

The trays of driveshafts were long and thin, making it easier for a tray to begin turning sideways and binding in the cart.To solve this problem, we used additional skate wheels to act as guide wheels for the trays. This cart also featured a set of guide wheels along the floor to correct any misalignment of the cart as it approached the pickup/drop off location.
